WCA Plans for a Woodwork Career Learning Center
The process of building a credentials program for an entire industry takes three to five years because it takes time and due diligence to cover every aspect of a career path. That’s why WCA envisioned a Woodwork Career Learning Center at the same time the founding members of the WCA Board of Directors envisioned the certification program for woodworkers. Because the career path for a woodworker may be linked to levels of competency, from beginner to advance specialist, and linked to proficiency in a direct, "hands-on" relationship with more than 60 of the most common tools used for woodworking, the concept of the learning center took shape.
The learning center is still in development and takes active volunteering and involvement by thousands of people directly engaged with woodworkers at every stage of their career to create and produce the functions, roles and structures of the Woodwork Career Learning Center. We have foundational programs in the works and slated for launch at the end of 2010. Leaders from woodwork manufacturing companies, woodwork supplier businesses, government agencies and educational programs provide hundreds of great ideas to WCA for implementation. WCA needs plenty of volunteers to work on these ideas and bring them to market.
We invite all who have a passion for learning, teaching and advancing people in their careers to volunteer their time, talent, expertise and training product ideas. By completing this form, you can indicate your eagerness to have a member of the WCA leadership team contact you, discuss your ideas and assign you to a work team you’ll really enjoy.
